Television News Reports

Sunday

In Cincinnati:
In May, 2001, the NBC Station in Cincinnati, WLWT, decided to air a report detailing lies from School Officials and what was actually going on in the field. Not only did they use hidden camera work in that portion of the report, they also caught a Hickman roofing rep at the National Roofing Contractor's Association Meeting in San Francisco (February, 2001) talking about how they wrote the specs for the architects, and all they did/liked to do was public school work....that report can be found here:

A follow-up report was done on Feb. 27, 2003, in which the head of the Ohio School Facilities program - decrying the sole sourcing in the first report - reportedly was caught taking kickbacks for same....that report can be found here:

In Albuquerque:
On May 23, 2001, the ABC Station in Albuquerque, KOBTV, aired a Report re: Albuquerque Public Schools and Garland locking down all that school work. A Task Force had been looking into the sole-sourced specs, headed by a CEO of a Building Products Company. It is not known to this blogger what happened if anything as a result of the Task Force or any recommendations.

The name of the report? "4 Wants to Know investigates why APS spends more than necessary for roofing. Garland Roofing Materials sells its products to APS schools for what some say is an inflated and unnecessary price."
