In the Fall of 2001, roofing contractors in the Kansas City, Missouri area got in the act - and attempted to stop the same old same old story - "High Quality" roofs for even "Higher" prices.
The price differentials were substantial. In comparing costs between that of their local roofing manufacturer, Performance Roof Systems (Derbigum) and Ohio's Tremco.
Performance Roof Systems in 2001 had installed prices of their systems of $4.60 to $5.40 a square foot, while Tremco's was $6.63 a square foot.
That's about a 125% to 150% markup....and the initial cost does not include higher costs for the roof's life cycle...costs for maintenance.
