Achieving Proper Drainage on a Flat Roof
One of the most common issues with flat roofing is drainage of water and leaky roofs. Making sure you have positive drainage is critical. Locating drains, scuppers, eavestrough, and downspouts strategically can increase the life of your flat roof considerably. Ponding water gets in at the laps, causes roofs to sag from weight, and will ultimately cause leaks. Regular flat roof maintenance is critical also.
Below is a site report from our Lethbridge, Alberta flat roofers conducting maintenance to a roof. The roofers deleted one roof drain on a tar and gravel residential roof and installed a new drain for positive drainage. We thought reporting the process of installing and deleting drains would be helpful to our do-it-yourself customers and facility managers that want a tutorial with photos.
